HSEL Splatoon™ 3 Rules

The rules contained on this page only cover this specific game, please review the HSEL General Competition Rules for information covering all official tournaments. 

 

1. Match Procedure

Supported Platforms

  • Nintendo Switch™

1.1. Series Lengths

Matches will be played in a best of 9 series, including matches for the playoffs and finals.

1.2. Game Lobby

A member of the home team will create a private lobby and share the lobby password with all participating players. In order to join players will need both the password and to be on the friends list of the host player. 

The lobby settings should be set to the following

  • Password: The host player will set a password
  • Mode: Turf War for stage 1
  • Stage: Dependent on the stage chosen in 2.3
  • Primary Gear Abilities Only: Off

If the incorrect settings or game mode are used, the match must be restarted. Please reach out to an HSEL Administrator via the live chat widget in the bottom right of our website, the moment the wrong settings are noticed for assistance. 

1.3. Game Modes and Stage Picks

  • Game 1: Turf war only, Home team picks map.
  • Games 2 and 3: Home team picks map AND mode.
  • Games 4, 5, and 6: Away team picks map AND mode.
  • Game 7: Home team picks map AND mode.
  • Game 8: Away team picks map AND mode.
  • Game 9: Home team picks map AND mode.

No repeated map and mode combos may be picked in the same match.

 

2. Restrictions

2.1. Disallowed Item(s)

  • The use of Splatfest Tees is prohibited. 
  • Any items, customizations, etc. that are disabled in competitive queues are prohibited from use in official matches. 

3. Stoppage of Play

3.1. Player Disconnection

If the player disconnects before game play begins (teams start to ink the stage or engage in combat) the game may be reset. The same stage must be used for the reset game. In the event where a player disconnects while the game is being played, the game will continue as a 3v4. If a team loses 2 or more players at the same time, that team will forfeit the current game, the match series will then continue on to the next game if any remain to be played. If players are experiencing multiple disconnections, please contact an HSEL Administrator via the live chat widget in the lower right corner of our website

 

3.2. Team Disconnection

If a team disconnects before gameplay begins (teams has started inking the stage, or started to engage in combat) the game may be reset. The same stage must be used for the reset game. In the event where a team disconnects during game play, that disconnected team will forfeit the current game, the match series will then continue on to the next game if any remain to be played. If a team is experiencing multiple disconnections or other technical difficulties, please contact an administrator. 

 

4. Organization Rosters

Splatoon 3 rosters require a minimum of 4 players and are limited to a maximum of 8 players (4 starting players and 4 substitute players). Rosters that do not meet the minimum or exceed the maximum number of players will not be allowed to participate in official matches until their roster size meets the set requirements. Player Substitutions may be made between games.
