Splatoon 3 101
- In the Splatoon 3 game, players come together to compete in ink battles. Eight players compete in teams of four*, with a variety of objectives in different game modes.
- Players can change between two forms at will: a humanoid form for blasting ink and splatting opponents, and a squid or octopus form for swimming quickly through inked surfaces, hiding from enemies, and refilling their ink tank.
- A variety of stages offer unique challenges and require players to adapt their strategies accordingly. Communication and teamwork are crucial for success on different maps and game modes.
- Game Modes:
- Turf War: Two teams of four players each fight to cover the most territory with their ink color. Splatting opponents disrupts their progress and allows your team to claim more ground. The team with the most inked area wins after three minutes.
- Splat Zones: Similar to the King of the Hill mode in other games, teams capture zones by covering them in their ink. Once a team captures all zones, a timer starts counting down. The team that controls the zones and has the lowest timer when it reaches zero wins.
- Clam Blitz: Players collect clams scattered around the stage and deposit them into the opponent's goal. Ten or eight clams combine into a Power Clam, which can break the barrier protecting the enemy's goal. The team with the most deposited Power Clams wins after five minutes.
- Tower Control: Teams fight to control a central tower that moves along a predetermined path. Standing on the tower moves it towards the enemy base. The first team to get the tower to the enemy's checkpoint wins.
- Rainmaker: One player from each team can carry a powerful Rainmaker weapon to a designated point in the enemy base. The Rainmaker is initially encased in a shield that must be broken before it can be picked up. The first team to deliver the Rainmaker to the enemy's base wins.
Mechanics
- Players can customize their loadout by choosing a main weapon, which is accompanied by a sub weapon and a special weapon.
- Main weapons are for frequent use due to their low ink consumption.
- Sub weapons offer tactical benefits but use more ink.
- Special weapons are powerful tools earned by filling a gauge and can significantly impact the game's outcome.
