Makeup Times

Week 6: Each competition will their standard queue times available for use on Friday, April 4th. Schools may use this queue to make up a missing match or to play their seventh match if they will be unable to queue on their normal match day in week 7.

Week 7: The final week of the regular season will allow schools to utilize more than one queue time–in addition to their standard week 7 match–in order to make up any previously missed weeks. All queue times will remain consistent from preseason through week 7 of the regular season.

Please note, the regular season is complete once a roster/participant has played seven matches.

Playoff Guidelines

How to Qualify

  • A roster/player must:
    • Play at least 70% of matches to be eligible for playoff qualification.
    • End the season at a high enough leaderboard placement (see Leaderboard Tiebreakers)
    • NoteAny unplayed regular-season matches will be counted as a loss against the player's/roster's record at the end of the regular season, per rule 2.12.1. Unplayed & Unreported Matches.

Playoff 101

Playoffs/finals are manually seeded; players will not use the queue system (with the sole exception being Minecraft Survival Games)

You may only reschedule a playoff match if you meet all of the following criteria:

  • Your competitor must agree to the new time in the match chat on the Generation Esports platform.
  • You notify and receive approval from MSEL admins for the new time here.
    • Generation Esports Support is available 10am-11pm Eastern Time Monday through Thursday and 10am-9pm ET Friday during the playoffs. We will attempt to staff reschedules outside this period with advance notice.
  • The match score must be reported before midnight Pacific Standard Time the day prior to the next round (i.e. reschedules must not impede the bracket from advancing).
  • Finals matches must be completed by 9pm ET Friday, May 4th.

Other Key Info:

  • 3rd place finals matches will occur on the same day as the bracket's finals match.
  • Per MSEL General Competition Rule 2.8.4: "Roster changes may be made at any point during or in-between seasons except during the time a team has queued for their match, during live matches, or once the playoffs have been seeded." Roster changes are prohibited for single-player tournaments.
  • In the case an emergency substitute is needed, the Team Administrator must reach out to competition@highschoolesportsleague.com to request permission.

All games will host a "Champ Bracket" for the top participants on the leaderboard (see below). Select titles may have one or more additional playoff brackets for the next best eligible participants, depending on the level of tournament participation.

  • Additional brackets may have fewer rounds than their Champ Bracket counterparts, but will share the same day to day schedule until they are concluded.
  • Reminder: Games with Nationwide regular seasons split into East/West divisions for playoffs, with the divisions being based on time zone. (East refers to schools in the Eastern and Central time zones, while West refers to schools in the Mountain, Pacific, Alaska, or Hawaii time zones).
