Match Settings
Starting from the Main Menu Select Online play 1P and then Tournaments on the following online menu.
From here you will be presented with multiple tournament options, in order to setup your match please choose "Create a Tournament" at the top of the menu screen.
Next you will be asked to choose an icon from a varied list to represent your tournament. The icon you select does not matter, so choose whichever you like. After the icon has been selected you will be given a prompt asking you to name your tournament. In order to reduce confusion, please name your tournament in the format of Your School or Club Name vs Your Opponent's School or Club Name.
Once your tournament name has been set you'll be taken to a menu to set the specific rules for your match. We have the match setting listed on the Mario Kart 8 Rules Page and Mario Kart 8 Match Settings Page. Below you will also find images for the specific game settings.

After the rules and settings have been entered press the A button to continue. A new prompt will pop up asking you to enter the names for both the Red and Blue teams. The Red Team name should be the name of the Home Team and the Blue Team name should be the Away Team's name.
After both teams names have been set, your match creation is complete. You'll be provided a specific tournament match code that you will need to share with your players and your opponent's team. Without the code the match cannot be played.
Once players have entered the room code, they will be able to join the match by selecting the Join option in the match lobby. All players need to be ready to play the moment the match time is live as the game will begin track selection the moment enough players have joined the lobby. If a play misses a race, they can still join in on the later ones.
At the end of all races, the winning team will report the match's final score on their match page. You may view the final score by selecting "View Standings" from the match lobby.
