HSEL Brawlhalla Rules

The rules contained on this page only cover this specific game, please review the HSEL General Competition Rules for information covering all official tournaments. 

1. Match Procedure

1.1. Series Lengths

Preseason & Regular Season - Best of 5

Playoffs/Finals - Best of 7

1.2. Game Lobby

All games will be played in a 1v1 lobby with the following settings.

    • Map Choosing: Tournament Striking
    • Blind Pick: Off

Any game played with incorrect settings will not count towards the series score and must be replayed. If a player recognizes an incorrect lobby setting, the game shall be suspended/paused and a report must be submitted immediately to HSEL admins through the live chat widget found in the lower right of our website.

1.3. Character Selection

The away player will have the first choice of their character, afterward the home player will choose their character. Once a character has been selected, neither player may change to a new character before the start of the game. 

For all games after game 1 of the series, the player who lost the previous game will have the option of changing their character. The winner of the previous game must remain on their previously chosen character. 

1.4. Map Striking

For game 1 of the series, the home player will strike all but three stages from the map pool. The away player will then choose from the three remaining stages. In the following games, the player who lost the previous game will strike all but three stages, and the winning player will select the next map from the remaining stages.

 

2. Restrictions

2.1. Disabled Content

Any game content (e.g. characters, skins, weapons, emotes) currently disabled in the Ranked or Normal matchmaking game modes will be prohibited from use in official matches.

 

3. Stoppage of Play

3.1 Disconnection

Disconnections that occur within 30 seconds of the start time or before the first stock is taken will result in a game reset. Any disconnect occurring after a stock has been taken or 30 seconds of game time have passed will result in a game loss for the disconnected player. 

 

4. Organization Rosters

Only one roster is required for all Brawlhalla players on a school organization. Each player on the roster will be seen as their own individual participant and will be given their own match when they queue at their chosen time. Pursuant to HSEL General Rule 2.11.9.2., "Substitutions are not permitted for solo competitions"
