HSEL Fortnite Rules

The rules contained on this page only cover this specific game and its respective game modes (Boxfight and Zone Wars), please review the HSEL General Competition Rules for information covering all official tournaments. 

 

1. Match Procedure

1.1. Game Modes & Series Lengths

Boxfight - Preseason and Regular Season Best of 1 | Playoffs Best of 3

Zone Wars - All matches Best of 3

1.2. Matchmaking Region

Official matches must be hosted on one of the following matchmaking regions:

  • NA-East
  • NA-Central
  • NA-West

1.2.1. Ping Test
If both teams cannot agree on a matchmaking region, a ping test will be used to determine which region will provide the most balanced ping. Before entering the match,

  • Each player should enter the game's Settings menu, then select the Game category.
    • Matchmaking Region will be the top option.
    • When selected, it will show the player's ping to all available servers.
  • One representative from each team should report an average ping for all three North America (NA) servers for their team
  • Compare the ping results and the region that provides the most balanced ping difference will be used for the match series. The party leader (host) should select this server in their settings before beginning the match.
  • In the event of a dispute, contact HSEL Support via the live chat widget for a ruling. Players may be required to supply a screenshot of their ping to the assisting HSEL admin.

2.2. Game Lobby

  • All official HSEL matches will use the following island code:
    • Boxfight (Fall): 4837-5581-2630.
    • Zone Wars (Spring): 3279-7505-3066
  • The Home Team will join a party together in the island code's lobby, then invite the Away Team to their party. 
  • Once all members are in the party and have selected "Ready Up", the party leader will start the game. 

2. Tournament Rules 

2.1 Restricted Items

The use of any item(s) that are not provided by the premade loadouts in the Boxfight or Zone Wards lobby is prohibited. 

3. Stoppage of Play & Disconnects

If a player disconnects prior to the first elimination of Round 1 within a specific game, or before 30 seconds of the round time has passed, the game will be reset by all remaining players going back to the lobby. Once that time has passed, play will continue and the disconnected player will be allowed to rejoin the game at a point in between rounds (i.e. players cannot join the game during live play).

If technical issues persist, immediately suspend play and contact an HSEL admin through the live chat widget. 

 

4. Team Rosters

Rosters must have a minimum of 2 players to start an official match and are limited to a maximum of 4 players. Rosters that do not meet the minimum or exceed the maximum number of players will not be allowed to participate in official matches until their roster size meets the set requirements. Player Substitutions may be made between maps.
